Assorted Thoughts

So distraught was I after my first soc class yesterday that I was unable to post. My prof is a complete and utter madman. He came into class wearing a t-shirt that read "Yoda is my bitch." Frightening. Then on the syllabus he wrote a note saying if you don't like public speaking and class discussions you should get out of his class as soon as possible. Oh dear. He has all theses crazy notions about how to teach. For example, he believes in "critical thinking" instead of knowledge, which translates into "we aren't going to be learning anything, just arguing in class." Oh, and he's not technically going to be teaching. He's going to let us do that.
Not only that, but our final is a take-home exam. I suppose this is a good thing, but it's also all written and going to be on current events, which are, needless to say, not my forte. He also expects us to post regularly on some sort of web discussion, have one-on-one meetings with him to introduce ourselves, and send him copies of our photo ID. He wants to "get to know us." I want to "get away from his class as soon as possible." So I tried to get into another course that will fulfil the same requirements, but all I can get into is Earth and Atmospheric sciences. I think I may die of excitement.
